Magnificant
I have just recently become a daivd beckham fan so i purchased this book and to my surprise it was one of the best biographies i have ever read. David talks about not only his love for his family but his feelings about man. united and england soccer. This is a must buy for all soccer fans!

Beckham lovers will love the book! Even Beckham haters!
My mother brought me this book in England just recently. I've wanted to have the book since it was first released, but its rather expensive if you buy it in Indonesia.
I have been an England fan, a Man United fan, and a Beckham since I was in secondary school 8 years ago. I knew Beckham since he was in the youth club. I lived in England at that time.
I think the book is excellent. The photos are too. I already knew a lot a bout Beckham, but since I read the book, I found out new things that made me respect him even more. He really loves his family and ofcourse football. Hes a real professional! For those of you who are Beckham fans, reading this book is a must! For those who aren't or are even Beckham haters, you'd definitely change your opinion about him. Salute!!

Tall Tales from Rogue River: The Yarns of Hathaway Jones (Northwest Reprints)
Published in Paperback by Oregon State Univ Pr (April, 1991)
Authors: Hathaway Jones and Stephen Dow Beckham
Average review score:

Excellent compilation of tall tales made up on muleback.
Hathaway Jones was a rural mail carrier in at the turn of the century. He delivered "mail" and various mail order catalogue items from West Fork to homesteaders, miners et al along the Rogue River. He had lots of time to make up stories as he led his pack string of anywhere from two to 15 mules and horses. Most were stories on himself.

Tall Tale telling is an American tradition being recognized with swaps all over the country. It helps stir the imagination and the stories are great, especially when told around a campfire.

Also gives incentive to make up your own tall tales. Look around you and you'll see lots of stories just waiting to be told. This book provides the incentive to do just that.

There was a good reason he was the biggest "liar" in America!
Folks around the Rogue River STILL talk about this guy. Some even do impersonations of him. Hathaway Jones could have been the Aesop and the Garrison Keillor of his time.

This book is a wonderful way to teach children how to use their imaginations with everyday things to create exciting stories. For adults, Hathaway's humor makes great reading next to the fireplace or around a campfire.

A note of thanks to Steven Dow Beckham for compiling these stories. Hathaway Jones was truly a remarkable man and it would have been a shame to have lost the wit and wisdom of this simple mail carrier.

Photoshop Elements 2 : Zero to Hero
Published in Paperback by Wrox (December, 2002)
Authors: Tom Arah, Barry Beckham, Adam Juniper, Todd Pierson, and Paul Shipley
Average review score:

This Book Should Come With The Program
I was a novice to Photoshop Elements. It looked like a good program, but I really didn't know where to start. I wanted to fix some photos I had scanned into the computer. The manual that came with Elements had a quick start guide to fixing photos. I guess I'm a dummy, but I couldn't figure out the basics of selecting stuff, and what to do if I ever got the part of the photo isolated, that I wanted to repair. Enter Zero to Hero. Tom Arah showed me how to use the selection tools, what layers were for, and how to manipulate the selected areas for best effect. I was able to take old fuzzy photos, with dim lighting, that the automatic correction features of Elements didn't handle well, and make usable images from them. I learned to correct color casts, dim lighting, poorly exposed photos, etc. I am still not a pro, but my family was amazed at what I could do with those photos. I am especially fascinated by the ability to add fill flash to foreground objects and people. All these capabilities were there just waiting for me, but for the life of me, I couldn't figure how to do it, from the manual. Mr. Arah's book has made it possible for even a dummy like me, to use Photoshop Elements with a modicum of expertise. Thanks for the clear and well-illustrated guide, Mr. Arah!

A Field Guide to Freshwater Fishes : North America North of Mexico
Published in Paperback by Houghton Mifflin Co (15 January, 1998)
Authors: Brooks M. Burr, John P. Sherrod, Lawrence M. Page, Eugene C. Beckham, and Craig Wayne Ronto
Average review score:

ID only
Do not expect more than ID from the book. It is excellent at ID but that is all you will get for sure. I bought it for ID and it serves the purpose very well. One must also question the range maps since as explained in the text of the book they are compromised.

Finishing the Trilogy
It might interest the reader of this review (since your looking at the book) to know that while fresh water only represents about 1% of the available aquatic habitat on earth over half of the known species of fish live in it. I'll leave it up to you to find out why. Peterson Field Guides have a winning formula, find an expert, set them up with a good illustrator and see what comes out. This book finishes the trio that covers all of the fishes likely to be encountered by a North American fisherman, diver or naturalist. Like the Fishes of the Atlantic Coast and the Fishes of the Pacific Coast it is well organized, well written, all inclusive (of species) and as informative as space will allow. If you are curious about fishes in general or encounter fresh water fish with any kind of regularity you owe it to yourself to find out what they are. And, if you live in North America you should have this book.

A Field Guide to Freshwater Fishes
This book has informed me on the many fishes I catch ranging from California to New York. Every year when I go down to Arkansas I alwyas bring it with me on my fishing journeys so that I no whati am catching. It has over 700 illistrations and over 300 maps. In all of my searching for book this has been the most helpful book I have used. I recamend buying it for yourself. It will help you alot.

The Second Reformation: Reshaping the Church for the 21st Century
Published in Paperback by Touch Outreach Ministries (September, 1995)
Author: William A. Beckham
Average review score:

House Churches or Cell Churches?
While it is nice to see that there are those in the instutionalized churches that see the need for reformation, I see a greater need in restoration. The modern Americanized church has become so filled with business ethics and principles that we have missed the clear New Testament teaching on servant leadership, authority, and the eternal purpose of the Church.

This book will offer you great insights into the cell movement. I would highly recommend this book if you are curious about how cell churches operate. If you are apart of a cell church and are still struggling with the clergy/laity system of most American churches (including cell groups) than I would encourage you to check out Frank Viola's book "Rethinking The Wineskins" (...).

The message in this book is clear, the church needs to change the world instead of the world changing the church. We must seek to return to a biblical model and pattern for the Church.

A Reformation is truly coming
This is a must read for all in the ministry who are eager to learn from the NT church. Beckham carefully takes us through church history to show how our present "One winged" church was a result of Constantine's Edict of 312AD. He shows us how the "Two winged church" is a more biblical model. I was especially blessed by his presentation of how the "two winged church" demonstrates God's Holy transcendant nature which is experienced in corporate worship and how God's Immanence is experienced in the small group setting.

An outstanding contribution to the "cell group" literature
Nearly thirty years ago, as an elder and home fellowship leader in an emerging megachurch, I became deeply convinced that small group fellowships were the "wave of the future." Then, several years later, when I read Howard Snyder's "The Problem of Wineskins," my convictions were solidified.

Now, as a senior pastor, after many years of stuggling to keep our home fellowships vital, and trying to balance small groups with all the other activities of the church, I and our leadership are moving into a cell church model. The key factor in pushing us "over the edge" has been Beckham's book.

Some of the cell group books available tend to present the cell model as another new technology guaranteed to produce evangelism and church growth. In some of the literature there seems to be a tinge of dogmatism and naive promotionalism (sincere but perhaps simplistic). Beckham, on the other hand, gives a persuasive historical and theological rationale for the cell group model.

His chapters on how to implement the cell model in the local church are worth the price of the book. And his explication of the "Instant Cell Church Syndrome (ICC)" is loaded with wit and wisdom. From my perspective, this book is a "must read" for all church leaders interested in the cell church model. Once Beckham's book has been absorbed, the other books with a more functional orientation can be appreciated and valued for their good points.

The College Selection Workbook: Self-Paced Exercises to Help You Choose the Right College
Published in Paperback by Beckham House Pub (December, 1990)
Author: Barry Beckham
Average review score:

Keeping Pace with the Process
Barry Beckham has kept pace with the rapidly changing process of choosing a college. For those students and parents who are motivated to "go it alone" Beckham's workbook provides them with nearly all the pieces of the puzzle. For students who need a little more guidence from the school or private counselor, the workbook serves as a great tool and resource. It's simplicity makes it accessible to the college bound student. Many schools could save time and effort handing out The College Selection Workbook, as opposed to reinventing the contents. The only down side is more students do not have access to Barry Beckham himself!

This book will definitely help students
As a high school guidance counselor, this book will be an extremely helpful tool for my students and their parents. They need a system to do the college search work that will help them calm down and see the step-by-step approach to the perceived chaos of the process. The incremental steps to aid students that this book offers is exactly what they need.
